RJA #10b: Argument-
Possible Objections: The Stocks were overpriced and that was the cause of the crash.Refutation: Studies have shown that using standard measures of stock value, such as Price to Earning ratios and Price to Dividend ratios, argue that the share prices were not too high for the markets.
Possible Objections: Fraud and illegal activity in the market was the reason the crash happened.
Refutation: Some evidence revealed that there was very little actual insider trading or illegal manipulation, thus this could not be the only reason why the crash happened.
RJA #10a: Thesis Statement–
Question:
What are the causes of the 1929 stock market crash?
Claim:
Many tend to believe that the crash only happened because of the illegal acitivty and fraud in the market and that the stocks were too overpriced, this however is only the beginning of the reasons for the crash.
Reasons:
Thesis Statement:
Many people believe that the stock market crash of 1929 was caused by the stocks being over priced, very little margin relative to the value of the market and that there were massive frauds and illegal activity in the stocks. However, this is only the thin layer of what really caused the great crash of 1929.
In this essay i will examine the causes and reveal how this crash even happened.

RJA #9: Evaluation of Sources-
Books:
1)webiste: http://aurarialibrary.worldcat.org/oclc/37693832&referer=brief_results
Title: The causes of the 1929 stock market crash
Sub Title: a speculative orgy or a new era?
Author: Harold Bierman
Publisher: Westport, Conn. : Greenwood Press
Copyright: 1998
Series: Contributions in economics and economic history,; Number: no. 195; ISSN: 0084-9235
Evaluation: I found this book on the Auraria Library website. I was happy when i found it because it fit exactly what i was looking for, the causes. It is a newer book, or atleast is no older than about 10 years old so i liked that it was fairly recent. Im excited to get this book and see what his opinions are on the causes of the crash and see if they differ from my own.
2) Title: Rainbow’s End: The Crash of 1929
Author: Maury Klein
Print Length: 368 pages
Publisher: Oxford University Press, USA (October 25, 2001)
http://www.amazon.com/Rainbows-End-Pivotal-Moments-American/dp/0195135164
Periodical:
1)Klein, Maury (06/01/2001). "The Stock Market Crash of 1929: A Review Article.". Business history review (0007-6805), 75 (2), p. 325.

Evaluation: I really found this periodical article very interesting. I looked to see where the author, Maury Klein got his information from and I was plesently suprised that the info was from Harvard. It is sometimes very difficult to find information, and not know if it is correct or not. So I was happy to find this article.
2)Muller, Mary, "The Stock Market Crash of 1987: Causes and Effects.." Oct89, Vol. 35 Issue 14, p66-66, 1/5p.
Website:http://0-search.ebscohost.com.skyline.cudenver.edu/login.aspx?direct=true&db=aph&AN=10853415&site=ehost-live
Evaluation: I found this periodical article, actually on the SkyLine website for the Auraria Library. She gives a lot of information on the causes of the crash. She seems to really know about the crash. She also talks about the effects but i will be only pretty much reading about the causes. Again, it is just nice to read other peoples opinions on the crash because this is greatly debated and everyone sees the causes differently.
Websites:
1)http://www.amatecon.com/gd/gdcandc.html
Evaluation: This is one of my favorite websites that I found for the Stock Market Crash. In this website, they give me about 7 causes of the crash. I liked this because other sites i would find, would really only provide me aboue 2 or 3 causes so it was nice to have more opinions.
2) http://www.money-zine.com/Investing/Stocks/Stock-Market-Crash-of-1929/
Evaluation: This site, I also saw very informative. They show what happened on each of the days of the crash, like black monday and black tuesday. Then it also goes into detail about why this crash happened.

Evaluation: I found this book, just by looking up Maury Klein, the guy who also wrote one of the periodical articles i found. I was just looking at what other things that he has been known for and I happened to stumble on this. The Book was called Rainbows End and its also about the Stock Market Crash. Since the article I found, seems to be very informative, Im sure that this book will also help a lot in my research.

INTERNET RESEARCH PROJECT
Deepdyve.com
This is an invisible search engine website. I really liked this site because it was a really specific search option. When you entered in what you were looking for, you could refine your search by clicking the options and checking the box of where you would like to search. Like example= i would look in buisiness and finance, web and other.
If that doesnt specify your search, you can do an advanced filter. You can type in what words you want in the search and what words you dont want in it. You can also type in the author and a date. It was a really good search engine site i i will definately be using this site more often in my search for my paper.

RJA #7c: Field Research Plan–
For my Field Research i plan on interviewing somebody and asking them questions about the Stock Market Crash. Im not still quite sure who i will be interviewing so when i find out, then i will be able to create questions.
Secondly for my Field Research i plan on going to the History Museum, in Denver. I will look for anything they have on the Stock Market Crash on 1929. I plan on doing all of this within the next couple of weeks.
Lastly i would like to set up a survey or poll and ask random people, "what do you think was the biggest cause to make the Stock Market Crash?" and see what other people's opinions on the matter are.

RJA #7a: Internet Research Tools–
The Internet search engines i mostly used in my research was google and sometimes i also used ask.com. I used them because they are the search engines that i am the most familiar with. One of the things i dont like about google is that they show wikipedia and I dont fully trust wikipedia because other people can go in and change the information. What i like about the websites is that google has one of the biggest searches, and its familiar for me to use, same with ask.com.
After researching and finding other research engines i found that i really like dogpile and metacrawler. I like dogpile alot especially because they offer you information from google, yahoo, bing and ask, all this is one website, which i think cuts alot of time of your research. In metacrawler it offers you info from google, yahoo, MSN and ask.
